Due to the catastrophic earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March, significant damages to numerous infrastructure and fatalities were reported in various townships in regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Sagaing Region, and Mandalay Region. The following reconstruction works are being conducted in the earthquake-affected areas:
- The Executive Director of the AHA Centre handed over five prefabricated schools — two 120 feet by 30 feet container classrooms, one 90 feet by 30 feet container classrooms and two 60 feet by 30 feet container classrooms donated by the AHA Centre for earthquake-affected schools in Sagaing to the Government of Sagaing Regin on 26 May.
- In collaboration with Ministry of Commerce, the Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and the Myanmar Livestock and Fisheries Federation, rice, cooking oil, foodstuffs and vegetables are being sold at affordable prices for earthquake staffs in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Sagaing Region and Mandalay Region, and Mandalay from 30 March to 27 May.
- Nay Pyi Taw Council Chair U Than Tun Oo and officials inspected the repairs on Yarzathingaha Road damaged by the earthquake and process of paving the road on 27 May. He then instructed the officials to conduct the completion of works in each part, meet the set standard for long-term endurance, repair platform systematically, and expand the plantation of trees at the roadside.
The government is carrying out relief and rehabilitation work by constructing and installing temporary buildings for earthquake-affected people and employees who are having difficulty living there, Timely distribution of international relief supplies to the affected areas, sale of household goods and construction materials at market stalls to enable people to purchase them at affordable prices, providing cash assistance and supply items donated by local and foreign donators. Relevant officials are working diligently to ensure that the restoration and reconstruction of ancient buildings, pagodas, pagodas, and bridges is completed as soon as possible, reports say.
